Maze, Planning Solutions

Morecambe Football Club Stadium Complex

Project Overview

Morecambe Football Club achieved Football League status for the first time in its history in May 2007 and immediately got down to the task of examining how the future success of the club could be secured, both on and off the field. MFC turned to MAZE Planning Solutions in August 2007 armed with fledgling proposals for a new stadium and hospitality accommodation, together with training and community sports facilities, a hotel and restaurants at Westgate, a short distance from the Club's long-standing base at Christie Park.

MAZE quickly integrated into MFC's management team and played a central role in the promotion and delivery of planning permission for the stadium complex in September 2008, providing key advocacy documents, including the Planning Statement, Travel Plan, Sustainability Statement and Spectator Management Strategy. MAZE continues to form part of the development team as the scheme is advanced in time for hosting its first league game during the 2010/11 football season.
